Hidilyn Diaz Francisco, born on February 20, 1991, in Zamboanga City, is a celebrated Filipino weightlifter. Notably, she clinched the first-ever Olympic gold for the Philippines at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics where she also set a new Olympic record!

Her groundbreaking journey began with a wildcard entry for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, making her the first female Philippine weightlifter at the Games. Diaz’s remarkable performance was observed when she earned a perfect 10 in the snatch and a clean and jerk total of 192 kg. Subsequent years saw Diaz achieving consistent excellence, including a silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics, gold at the 2018 Asian Games, and notable podium finishes at World Championships.
