For 19-year-old Sakura Yosozumi, skateboarding started as a way to play with her brother and ended with the first Olympic gold medal in women’s park.

Lisanne De Witte caught up with the first ever women’s skateboarding competition at the Olympics for you. The women put on a great show for the first event! The eventual winner, and therefore the first female Olympic skateboarding champion, is Sakura Yosozumi. The Japanese woman showed what it means to pursue one’s dreams.
